Brunch November 2022

19th November 2022

Although it was a bright and crisp start to the day at the Grand Canal Dock, the Plurabelle Paddlers had no time
to enjoy the beautiful surrounds of the dock in the early morning sunshine; they were too busy training hard! But, after all that hard work on the water, a brunch with paddling friends was very welcome indeed, so the hungry Plurabelles gathered en masse for a post-training brunch in a nearby restaurant. It wasn’t just the tasty food that proved to be a winner, but also the opportunity to chat outside the boat and to socialise together.

Lough Lannagh Dragonboat Regatta 2022

24th September 2022

The Plurabelle Paddlers travelled westwards this weekend to Lough Lannagh, Castlebar, as guests of the Gráine Mhaol Dragon Boat Club. The beautiful scenery of the lough was only matched by the welcome we received from the Gráine Mhaols. We were made feel so welcome and we had the best fun as we paddled and raced in sunny Lough Lannagh. Paddlers from both the Gráine Mhaols and the Plurabelle Paddlers mixed to form three composite teams – Daisy, Dahlia and Daffodil. A beautiful trophy and medals were presented to all the winners and the runners-up. A huge and heartfelt thanks to all in the Gráine Mhaols for making our trip ‘out west’ so memorable. We loved it!

Back to dragon boats – June 2021

26th June 2021

After 15 long months, we’re  finally back training in a dragon boat on the Grand Canal Dock today. Current Covid restrictions mean we are training in two separate pods of 15 paddlers for June and July.  Sessions in our O1’s continue and with 2 weekends of water safety courses planned, it will be a busy few weeks.

Back to Paddling Part III

19th May 2021

O1 coaching sessions resumed on the Grand Canal Dock today and will take place Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays for the moment.  We hope to be back in the dragon boats in June as restrictions are lifted.

Until then there are many happy Plurabelles making great use of the O1’s and delighted with the delivery  of two new Nelo boats over the winter .
