News & Events

  • ‘All in a Row’ – Paddling on the River Liffey

The weather gods were kind to us on Saturday 9th December for the ‘All in a Row’ charity fundraiser in aid of the RNLI and the Irish Underwater Search and Recovery (thankfully there was no snow, but boy, it was FREEZING!). The Plurabelles were on the river Liffey decked out in Santa hats and fairy lights (I guess it’s no wonder that we were a favourite with the snap-happy tourists!)

Anna Livia is the name given to the personification of the River Liffey (and the name of our boats!). James Joyce named the heroine in Finnegans Wake Anna Livia Plurabelle. You could say that we were at ‘home’ on 9th December, on this wonderful river in our great city. View photos

  • Christmas arrives at the Clubhouse!

The lycra was banished! Christmas jumpers and Santa hats were the order of the day as Plurabelle Paddlers gathered at the club house on 2nd December for the annual Christmas Brunch (welcomed at the door by Mr Santa Claus, no less!)
As well as an opportunity to kickstart the festive season and to endulge in an amazing hot breakfast, the brunch was also an opportunity for the club to hand over 33 care packages to Helen Walsh of #PassItOn for Operation Snowball. The Christmas care packages are destined for women who will be spending this Christmas in one of a number of womens’ refuges in Dublin. View photos

  • Mary’s ‘Showstopper’ Cakes

Is that jingle bells that I hear?!
Believe it or not, Christmas is only a few weeks away (cue panic stations!) Well, fret not… Our own Mary O’Leary was on hand to offer fellow paddlers a demonstration of her fabulous Christmas cake decoration expertise. For one night only, the clubhouse was turned into a Christmas wonderland of beautiful, tasty cakes. Watch out ‘Bake Off’ contestants, Mary’s showstopper festive cakes are just amazing! View photos
