‘Along Home Shores’ – Plurabelles on TV!

Plurabelle Paddlers hit the small screen again at the end of October 2016 when ‘Along Home Shores’ presenter, Bobby Kerr trained with us in the first episode of the UTV Ireland programme. Bobby also visited our club house, chatted to some paddlers and found out for himself what makes the Plurabelles such a very special club.

News & Events

  • Farewell ‘Anna’…..and thank you!

Saturday, 24th June was a poignant day for the Plurabelles, as we said goodbye to ‘Anna’ (our blue boat). We’ve had fun sessions -and very serious competitive races – in the ‘Anna’ boat over the past 7 years. She has served us well.

We’re getting a new boat shortly, so it’s time to say goodbye to ‘Anna’ (though ‘Livia’ – our pink boat – is remaining). It was sad to see ‘Anna’ go, but we’re very happy that she has got a new home in Kilkenny with the Nore Dragon Paddlers. I’m sure that ‘Anna’ will give Nore Dragon Paddlers as much joy, as she gave us! Click here to see photos of the Plurabelles ensuring that ‘Anna’ looked at her very best for Nore Dragon Paddlers.

  • Fun Moments & Memories at Barrow Dragon Boat Regatta

Let’s face it, it’s not every Sunday morning that the citizens of Carlow wake-up to discover that dragons have invaded their town! But that’s what happened on Sunday, 11th June, as hundreds of paddlers from all over Ireland converged on the town for the annual Barrow Dragon Boat Regatta.

The Plurabelle Paddlers were well-represented at the event; by not one, but two teams (Plurabelle Paddlers and the Purebelles). There were some very competitive races and close finishes…. but there was still time between races to relax, catch up with friends and to enjoy the sun (when it shone!). You can view photos here. Well done to the IDBA who organised the event and to the Plurabelle team managers.

  • The Dragons Roar at Dublin Docklands Festival!

The Plurabelles are very proud to train at the Grand Canal Dock….It’s definitely one of Dublin’s hidden gems! So, it was an honour to paddle at the Dublin Dockland’s Festival on 20th May (view photos). Thanks to Chris for excellent helming (despite a myriad of obstacles) and to Tara who spoke so well to the assembled crowd about Plurabelle Paddlers and the growing sport of Dragon Boat racing.

As Tara said, if you’ve had Breast Cancer and fancy giving Dragon Boat racing a go, we’d love to hear from you. For those who have not had a breast cancer diagnosis and want to try out the sport, the Dublin Vikings also train at the Grand Canal Dock. Please check out Dublin Vikings on meetup.com
